Seperti dilansir autoevulution, Sabtu (23/4/2011) Mazda telah mengadopsi mesin baru SkyActive-Drive yang terbuat dari logam alumunium pada sedan tersebut. Informasi lain menyebutkan teknologi baru itu pada mesin kapasitas 2.000 cc bisa menjangkau jarak 18 km dengan 1 liter BBM.


Mesin tersebut tersedia dalam 2 pilihan transmisi yakni otomatis dan manual. Tidak ada informasi lengkap pada mesin baru tersebut, namun selain irit bahan bakar pihak Mazda sesumbar jika mesin baru Mazda3 sangat ramah lingkungan dengan 40 mpg di jalan bebas hambatan.

"Ya, sangat ajaib dengan gas buang 40 mpg di jalan raya," kata Vice President Mazda Amerika Utara, Robert Davis.

Mesin baru pada Mazda3 sejalan dengan rencana pihak perusahaan yang memiliki target untuk menurunkan emisi gas buang kendaraan Mazda sebesar 30 persen pada 2015. Rencana lain Mazda untuk menurunkan emisi gas adalah dengan memperkenalkan mesin diesel di Amerika Serikat dalam kurun waktu 18 bulan mendatang.


Mazda3 akan diperkenalkan pada musim gugur 2011. Mazda3 terbaru bakal menggunakan disain pelek terbaru dengan ukuran 16 inci dan 17 inci.

Penampilan barunya bakal disokong dengan fitur keamanan canggih seperti ABS, Electronic Brake Force Distribution (EBD), Dynamic Stability Control (DSC) dan Emergency Stop sistem Signaling (ESS) sebagai perlengkapan standar dan opsional bi-xenon lampu depan dengan sistem pencahayaan berputar adaptif.
